Featured Item: Beautiful Homemade Throw...

To consider something inferior just because it is 'homemade' is folly - as is the presumption that anything 'manufactured' is automatically 'better made'...

Manufactured items have often been little more than a way of exploiting the trends and fashions of the day - often things which every-day folk up and down the country were fashioning for themselves at home. Factory made eiderdowns were a way of providing the population at large with an affordable highly decorative alternative to the homemade quilts and throws so prevalent in castles and cottages alike.

That's why, sweet homemade throws such as this are so special. It doesn't pretend to be perfectly made, it's not finely finished or filled with exotic down. But what it lacks in retail credibility, it gains in unique charm! Someone wanted to take a collection of the most beautiful fabrics from the 1930s and 40s and make something special with them, something personally rewarding and satisfying to keep and use throughout the years to come.

In this sense, it is priceless. It is like no other thing. Even in a room that was full to overflowing with beautiful quilts and eiderdowns - it would still catch your eye and whisper 'I'm different - I am special'.
