Rare Pair of Rosebud Eiderdowns (astb394)

This is an absolutely wonderful find; a pair of incredibly pretty eiderdowns dating to the early 1950s. Each eiderdown is covered with a beautiful fabric with a smooth, silk like feel, indeed, the fabric may be silk or a cotton/silk mix. The eiderdowns are reversible with one side having a pale green inset border. The design is exquisite; a pale eau de nil green is the perfect backdrop for tiny green polka dots, scattered rosebuds and dainty sprays of rosebuds. The design of the stitching ensures the amply feather-filled channels echo the dainty scale of the pattern perfectly. There is a pale green piped edging and an air vent in the centre of the eiderdown - a sign of a quality.

Each eiderdown is approximately 43" by 64". They are in excellent condition with no wear or repairs. The side of each eiderdown with the plain inset border appears a shade or two lighter than the reverse which is actually rather becoming, giving the eiderdowns a reversible style. There are a few, very minor marks. One eiderdown has the faint outline of a smallish watermark to the centre of the main face - really nothing that detracts from these beautiful eiderdowns.
