Rare Roses and Pink Stripe Eiderdown (astb435)

This is a one-of-a-kind, handmade eiderdown; we have certainly never seen one the same as this before and we have seen a great many eiderdowns over the years! We believe this is a Sanderson fabric and dates to the 1940s or early 1950s. This is a double eiderdown and it has been expertly and individually made to create a beautiful look. The fabric is a cotton and has sprays of roses and ivy against a pink and white stripe background. On one side, the eiderdown has a pretty, frilled pink detailing which forms a lovely design over the decorative stitching. The reverse has two plain pink cotton inset panels at the top and bottom - perhaps because there wasn't quite enough of the patterned fabric? Either way, the whole look is decidedly pretty and definitely unique. The eiderdown has a frilled pink edging and an even filling of feathers. It was designed to sit atop a double bed and would drape nicely over a single bed.

A true vintage beauty of an eiderdown; perfectly pretty for your cottage style home. The eiderdown is approximately 50" by 60". It is in lovely condition. It is evenly filled but not overly filled with feathers. Some minor surface marking here and there and dulling at the corners where it has been handled, but this eiderdown would no doubt freshen up beautifully with a machine wash, and one small L shaped repair but no feather leakage.
