1930s Pink Roses and Foliage Wool Rug (tx1115)

A large woven wool rug dating to the 1930s. This lovely old rug was made by BMK (Blackwood Morton & Sons) of Kilmarnock, Scotland and has a pretty corner design of roses, peonies etc., set against an overall design of pink foliage against a deep raspberry coloured background. This is a large wool rug with a hessian backing and would be ideal for placing in the centre of a small room with a sofa, chair and occasional table.

The rug is approximately 101" by 72" (256cm by 183cm.) It is in very good condition, with some very minor wear at an edge or two. The rug is in overall clean condition - there are a couple of small marks (50p size) which would remove with spot cleaning and several defined outline watermarks on the underside which do not show at the front (see inset to 4th photo.). The rug has not been cleaned but it may benefit from a freshen up with a domestic carpet cleaner to remove any storage aroma. Colours are strong and not faded. (Variations in light are due to shadowing and weft.) Due to the size, this would be delivered by courier - please enquire for cost or you are very welcome to collect or arrange your own courier.
