Beautiful Aubusson Needlepoint Rug (tx1158)

A stunning vintage Aubusson wool needlepoint rug. The rug has been entirely handstitched in a wonderful palette of gentle colours contrasting with a darker central bordered area. Shades of plum, raspberry, pale slate, airforce blue, chestnut, beige and brown, sit prettily against a cream background. There are roses and tulips, fruit and acanthus leaves, all intricately stitched in a superbly attractive design. The design has been worked onto a punched canvas and although it is not backed, the rug has perfectly retained its shape.

This classical style rug will add beauty to any room in your home and complement many different colour schemes. The rug is approximately 36" by 60". In excellent condition for its age; no markings, just a couple of missing stitches near an edge.
