Superb 1940s French Storage Tins (hw1153)

A set of five vintage French tins, dating to the 1930s. Each tin has the image of a lady wearing the national costume for a particular province of France, along with the name of the province and the food item the tin is designed to hold. The five different food items are sucre, farine, pates, cafe and riz (sugar, flour, pasta, coffee and rice.) The five provinces are Bretonne, La Perigourdine, La Nicoise, L'Arlesienne and La Savoyarde. The provinces are listed on the back of each tin along with the manufacturer's details. Each tin has a hinged lid and decorative detailing to the sides and lid.

A really super and rare set of vintage tins for your French styled kitchen. Each tin is approximately 16cm high, 12.5cm wide and 8.5cm deep. In very good used condition with some wear to the outside and corrosion to the inside. The tins could be lined with foil or paper or smaller, new tins, if intended for food use. Alternatively, this is an exceptionally beautiful set of decorative tins which will display wonderfully in your home. There would have been a sixth tin which represents L'Alsacienne and probably held chicoree - how lovely if it could be found!
