1940s Red Roses Bread Bin (hw1220)

This is a rare and beautiful 1940s bread bin made by Worcester Ware, a renowned manufacturer of British period decorative and practical kitchen wares. This very large bread bin is decorated to the front with a spray of red roses and rosebuds with the word 'BREAD' beneath. has a light cream finish with green edging to the lid. The cup style handles at the side are very much of the era with their deco styling. The Worcester Ware name is impressed into the base.

This gorgeous vintage bread bin is a perfect example of 'beauty in utility'. With its pretty red roses and 1940s colours and styling, this will be one everyday item you will want to display and use. The bread bin is approximately 14" high to the top of the handle and 11.5" across excluding the two side handles. It has age-related wear and some corrosion to edges of the lid, handles and rim of base. The inside is in very good condition with overall darkening but minimal degradation for the age. If lined with foil or a smaller bin, it could be used to store bread or other food items - alternatively it would make a very beautiful kitchen waste bin!
