1930s Art Deco Barbola Crocus Photo Frame (hw1282)

This is a very rare - and very large - photograph or picture frame. It dates to the 1930s and has very distinctive deco styling of the era. The large frame has a glass face with applied deco pinstriping and four decorative chrome screw fittings which allow for a picture or photograph to be inserted inside the frame. Two panels of Barbola crocus flowers decorate the sides of the frame. The flowers are handmade and hand painted and sit against a gold painted stippled background. The reverse of the frame has the same gold painted stippled finish over wood. The frame has an easel stand and original chain so it may be wall hung or will stand on a table.

An all-original and very rare example of Barbola ware. The frame is approximately 32cm at the widest and 31m high. In very good condition with age-related wear to Barbola work and frame. A small, original shop/stock code label is attached to the easel stand.
