Antique Klein Roses Chocolate Box (hw1306)

This is a very rare and exceptional find. It is a Fry's luxury chocolate box and dates to around 1910. This large box is made to an incredibly luxurious standard and has a silk padded lid, printed with an image of Catherine Klein's red roses and clover. The lid bordered with red velvet and has four lovely gold metal floral flourishes at each corner. The sides of the box are covered with a red silk. Inside, the box retains its original Fry's label and one of the braid straps for holding the lid open. The underside base of the box is covered with a black lining paper.

This is a truly beautiful antique box, made to a standard and luxury we simply don't see today and is a perfect example of a by-gone era. The box is approximately 15" wide by 10.5" and 2.5" high. It has overall age-related wear. The clasp is broken and one of the lid straps is missing. There is aged wear to the silk and velvet as seen.
