Rare Exquisite 1930s Barbola Vanity Set (hw1315)

This is a most beautiful and extremely rare ladies grooming set which dates to the early 1930s. It consists of a hand mirror with bevelled glass, hairbrush, clothes brush and tray. All pieces are divinely decorated with a cobalt blue paint and edged with a decorative gold painted barbola design. Each piece is also adorned with barbola work in the form of red roses and blue forget-me-nots, with the hand mirror bearing bluebells and trumpet flowers also. The floral decoration is set within a bordered barbola cameo and the brushes and mirror have the added adornment of gold bows and flowers. The tray and underside of the hairbrush and hand mirror have a delicate gold brush-painted finish over the blue.

This stunning set will make a very fine addition to a lady's boudoir. The tray is approimately 12" by 9", the mirror is 14" by 8", the hairbrush is 9.5" and the clothes brush is 7" long. All pieces have age-related wear and a superb patina which adds immensely to the beauty of this remarkable set. The handle of the hairbrush is imprinted with the maker's name, Titterton of London.
