1930s Country House Nursery Screen (hw1390)

This is a wonderful and unique vintage three-fold screen! It dates to the 1930s and is a large wooden framed screen which was used in a country house nursery. The screen is painted cream and has three gathered panels of superb nursery design fabric which dates from 1930s to 1940s. The fabric is attached to metal rods which screw into the frame for easy removal and adjustment. The fabric design is super; letters of the alphabet feature alongside animals, houses, the ark, flowers and a big top, in a subtle colourway of pinks, blue, green, grey and black.

This large screen would look delightful in a nursery or playroom and provides a great alternative to a partition or door. The screen is approximately 60" at the highest and each panel is approximately 27" wide, giving a maximum width of over 80". The condition is excellent for its age. The fabric has some age-spotting and rust marks at seams from the rods and a small bit of wear at the seams in a couple of places. There is age-reated wear to the paint and it appears it once had rubber feet as there are some small remnants of these. This item will be delivered via courier within the UK - please ask for a quote.
