First World War Anemones Needlepoint (pg731)

A particularly fine, handworked silken thread needlepoint which dates to the first world war (1914-1918) and bears the signature on the reverse of RSM D Fish who we presume worked this piece for a loved one. This is a detailed image of a bowl of colourful anemones displayed upon a table with a gathered curtain in the background. It is worked on a natural coloured linen and set into a wooden frame with a paper backing, these are all original to the piece.

A rare and beautiful piece of needlework which was worked during the Great War by a serving officer and therefore has a very special significance. The frame is approximately 27.5cm by 24cm. In excellent condition. There was some dust incursion so it has been removed from the frame for cleaning and replaced/resealed to prevent further dust getting in.
