1940s Roses in Jug Watercolour (pg764)

A very pretty original watwercolour depicting an earthenware jug with cream and pink roses, with a red rose laying beside the jug. The painting is signed by the listed artist Ivor Mackenzie (born 1880) whose work occasionally comes up at auction. He was a Royal Navy Commander who painted and exhibited from the 1930s to the 1950s. This delightful painting is set into a frame of similar age (so may be original to the painting.) The frame has more recently been overpainted with a light grey brushed painted finish which complements the image very well.

A wonderful, original watercolour of an English garden favourite. The frame is approximately 46cm by 36. In excellent condition.
