Bouquet by Irene Pownoll Williams (pg794)

A rare floral painting by listed artist Irene Pownoll Williams (1885-1971.) This painting dates prior to 1942 and was worked in tempera and depicts a bouquet of flowers in a jug with scent bottle, a lady's glove and delicate lace curtains in the background; such a perfectly feminine scene. The painting is signed and set into its original frame. It bears exhibitor labels on the reverse which show that it was in the 1942 Contemporary Tempera exhibition in Bournemouth and the New English Art Club; very fine provenance indeed. Her most famous work is St.Kenelm.

The delicate and fine detail is a delight and this painting would look wonderful in a bedroom or feminine styled interior. The frame is approximately 44cm wide by 45cm high. Minimal wear to frame. Some light dust incursion and minor spotting.
