Victorian Beadwork and Embroidered Cushion (tx571)

A rare and stunning example of beadwork and embroidery at its finest. This large cushion is a super shape, perfect as a back rest for a sofa or chaise longue. The handworked beading and floral embroidery is really quite breathtaking and the striking red background highlights the delicate work. The central design of a lilac rose and violets is flanked by two leaf-design beadwork sections which in turn is bordered by a black scrolling pattern, all set against a beautiful shade of red embroidery which is also handworked. The cushion has a velvet backing with a box edge and double piping in a complementary shade of mink.

The cushion is approximately 21.5" wide by 12" and is 2.5" deep. The velvet has some minor markings - the beadwork and embroidery is in super condition; have a good look at those close-ups!
