Stunning French Roses Needlepoint (tx813)

A stunning vintage French wool needlepoint, set behind glass in its original painted green frame. Dating to the 1940s, this very large and absolutely beautiful needlepoint is entirely handworked. It depicts a riot of colourful roses and rosebuds with sprays of pretty blue phlox cascading over a garden wall. It is set into its original green painted frame and the reverse bears the framer's label. This really is a very beautiful piece; the worn painted frame complements the colours in the needlepoint perfectly. This is large enough to grace a main wall in a bedroom or living room and would look superb hung above a sofa or bed.

A rare and exceptionally gorgeous framed needlepoint with such beauty - a real gem for lovers of roses! The frame is approximately 43" wide by 21" high. The frame has wear and, as is usual with a frame this size, there is some slight flex in the edges. The needlepoint is in very good condition. The original card backing is affixed and appears never to have been removed. The reflection of light on the glass in places may look like flatness or dulling, but there is no fading or dullness to the colours at all, is simply the light on the glass.
