Victorian Velvet Chenille RosesThrow (tx980)

A beautiful antique Victorian throw or table cover. The colours are rich and warm, with a border of roses, dahlias and polyanthus depicted in shades of pinks, reds and blues. An outer, decorative border in tones of gold, mustard and yellow surrounds the array of flowers and a similar border encircles a central design of polyanthus and primrose. It is made from a woven wool chenille with a velvet feel, which is wonderfully plush. These textiles were often used to cover a table in the Victorian parlour, where pastimes such as card games would have been played.

With such wonderful, rich hues and shades in the most glorious of colours, this would look superb draped over the back of a sofa or laid upon a bed, and will add warmth, colour and beauty to a Victorian or bohemian cottage style home. The throw is approximately 60" by 62". In very good condition for its age with a couple of small wear spots (seen when held to light) and two light spot marks. There doesn't appear to be any fading (central pattern is more subtle by design) and colours are lovely and rich.
